I can't believe that this year has flown by. It is amazing. My little girl is already 1 and she is going strong. We have not crawled yet, but I feel like it might be soon. She is acting like she wants to do this. She also likes to stand with help and can pull her self mostly up on her own which is good.
Well, we had planned to have a party for Saturday and I had to do a lot of planning. I really was looking for something good for her to wear on her actual birthday. Everything I found was super expensive and she was only going to wear it for one day, so I decided to make my own. On my way through Michael's I found this party hat. We posed in the party hat and the cupcake hat my mom's friend had knitted her. She was soo cute that we were laughing which caused her to laugh. It was pretty funny.
We traded hats. She was not a big fan of the party hat.
Here she is at daycare with Trey, Shannon's son. She loves him. Whenever he is in the room, he is the only one she looks at. He even trumps mom sometimes. He is really good with her. Scary to think what she will be like when she gets to be a teenager. Yikes!!
We were hanging out on the porch so I took some photos. Thanks dad for smiling. At least someone is excited.
Here she is in the sandbox playing with the sand at daycare. At one point she put a giant handful in her mouth. Yuck!
Here is a closeup of the shirt. I freehanded the cupcake and had a stencil for the 1. I had bought 3 t-shirts to try out this and it only took one. I am just that good. It was pretty cute. Maybe I will remember to make one for her birthday every year for a while.
She was much happier once we go to daycare so I had to take a picture. It must have been no party hat that made her excited.
It was nice that day and she was the only kid, so they headed to the Children's Museum for the morning and hung out in the park and listened to music while they ate their lunch. I got to visit them for a while because it was during my lunch break.
The museum has a toddler place upstairs with things all their level. She loved looking at the mirror.
That night, Dad got out of work early and picked up a small cake for us to eat for her actual birthday. I did not make this one.
She was super excited to eat cake. She had also just eaten mac and cheese which is her favorite meal. It also happens to be dad's favorite meal as well. Go figure since she had never had it before. Funny!!
MMMM!!!
I think I love cake!!!!
Friday morning, Mom took the day off because her 12 mo appt was scheduled. Dad is off in Boston every day doing a big project that he is supervising so he had to work. This is the before we went to the appt. So cute.
This is after. Can you tell she had 3 shots in her thighs and a pin prick in her finger? She loves beets.
She did really well at the appt. She is 18lbs 7 oz which is good and bad. She only gained 7 oz in the past 2 months. It means she dropped from the 75th percentile to the 10th percentile for weight. She looks healthy and is eating like a champ but we just have to be aware of feeding her more during the day. It won't be a problem unless we go to her 15 month appt and she drops off the scale. If she stays at the 10th percentile then we are ok. Who would have thought? I feel like this kid eats constantly. If you think about it though she eats mostly fruits and veggies which are not high in calories. So more milk and more protein. Yum chicken!!
I found this fish cake on Pinterest. It is a Martha Stewart design. I did not however use her cake or frosting recipe. The frosting called for 10 1/2 sticks of butter. Whoa Martha!!! That is way too much butter. I used my old fashioned cook book for the cake and frosting and I think it came out pretty well. Not perfect but cool looking. Who gets a cake like this on her first birthday? Now focus on the fin on the bottom left...
Here she is ready to eat cake!!
She is soo excited for more cake.
She didn't really go for it all that much after I left it there so I broke off that fin. Remember that fin...
This is what it looks like after Natalie the cake monster attacks. She pretty much ate the whole thing. Everyone was around watching her. It was pretty funny.
The party was a big success. Thanks to Mother Nature, the weather held off until everyone left. Thank you so much. We had a fabulous day and Ms. Natalie was pooped by the end as I think were her mom and dad. We are so thankful for everyone who was able to make it and thanks to the presents as well.
Here she is this morning having a good time rolling around her floor playing with some toys and listening to some music. What a cutie.
We are doing well. Next weekend is our time in Stonington. Will have to post some pics from that.
Will not be updating as much as I used to as it is a lot of work. Hopefully I can start doing it every month to show her progression.
Hope this finds everyone well. Love to all!!!
