snow/car insurance

This morning I woke up to about a foot of snow outside. I decided not to go in this morning to work because I wouldn't have been able to get out of the driveway. I did end up going in later because we got plowed out at 10:30. The roads were not that fun to drive on but at least I got paid for a few hours of work.

I just saw a Geico commercial with a hired professional to tell us about the normal people's problem. There is a hilarious one with Joan Rivers. My all time favorite one is with Little Richard. Now there is a new one with the Pips that is pretty funny too.

Happy New Year to all!

holidays

We survived another holiday. Everyone is gone. It wasn't all that bad. We had a nice time with everyone. We got some good stuff. We are currently waiting on my brother to bring over my new bookcase. I can't wait until it gets here. We are also awaiting on the next 3 storms that we are supposed to get. Really! Hope everyone has a wonderful new years and we will see you on the other side.

photos

We got a really cool camera yesterday. It is a Nikon D40 digital. We have two lenses. A basic lens and a telephoto one. It takes some really great pictures. Last night we were experimenting with it using Rocky as our subject. HA HA. Good luck using a dog that sleeps for a living as your subject. He barely opened his eyes the whole time we were taking pictures. Silly dog. This morning as I was driving to work, I wished that I had brought the camera with me because there were so many amazing shots that I could have taken. I was driving about 7:30 down Rte. 11. It snowed a couple of inches last night, so the morning light was illuminating each individual branch and it was almost a surreal scene. I was paying more attention to the nature around me than the road. The sun was coming up as I was driving towards the east and the colors were roses, pinks, magenta, orange and varying colors along that spectrum. There was this spot of branches lower to the ground that allowed only a small patch of light through it and I wished that I could have captured it. Maybe another day.

blogging for me

I find it interesting and I guess a bit of a coincidence that this week I have been listening to a series of reports on the 10th anniversary of the web log or what has become known as the blog. The coincidence part is that I just decided to start my own not too long ago. I guess I am not up to date as the average blogger because some people are adding posts using their cell phones or pda's. Since I am behind the times with those types of electronic gadgets, I don't have that option. I mean, seriously, we just got a cool computer a little while ago. I am starting to sound like my parents. They called yesterday with a crisis. They had two of the bluegrass station on their presets of their sirius satellite radio and couldn't figure out how to get roadhouse back. I had to patiently walk them through it. Crisis was averted. It did take them almost a whole week to call with a problem. They seem to love the radio so that makes everything ok.

xmas

We had our first installment of Christmas this past weekend. We went up to my parent's house to visit with them. My brother was there too. We had a really nice time. We got some really good things. My brother made me an awesome bookcase that I had no idea that he was actually going to make. I am so excited that I can get all my books off the floor and clean up some of the living room. My parents got us this really cool painted picture of Rocky. They know somebody in Westmoreland that can do portraits. They gave her a picture of Rocky at the bridal shower and it is an exact likeness. We were actually able to put it up in our house. We gave my parents sirius satellite radio. They seem to really enjoy it. We had a good time. Now we are getting ready for installment 2 tomorrow morning. Hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas.

plowing woes

So our plow guy doesn't really like us. He doesn't like to plow until the day after a storm. The first snow storm we got he didn't come until 5pm that night. The next storm he didn't come until the morning. The next one he came and made one pass so we could kind of get out. This storm as of 6:30 pm we have not been plowed out. Chris went to put on the front lights for the eventual show of the plow guy and he saw a flashlight. There was the UPS man walking up our driveway. Apparently he had parked at the end of our road at the end near rte 11 and walked in with our packages. His packages were three boxes of cookies from Chris' grandmother. What a nice grandma and what a nice UPS man.

snow

We are in the midst of the "so-called" noreaster. I feel the storm on Thursday was much much worse but that maybe because I was driving in it and I couldn't see a thing. Yikes! That was scary. We are patiently waiting for the Patriots dismantling of the Jets this afternoon. While we wait we are watching the planet earth series. I must buy that someday so that I can watch it a lot. I saw my parents yesterday. THey are doing well. They took my car and had it fixed for me. That was soooo nice of them. So I met them in Concord to get it back. We went to the mall to buy the rest of their Christmas presents. IT was fun. We are doing an early Christmas with them next week. Then after Christmas we will be spending with Chris' family. I only get Christmas day off which sucks. Oh well, I need the money. I haven't been paid yet since I started working at my new job. The reason for this is because I am working for the state. Need I say more. They pay like two weeks behind. So currently I am broke but I ill be doing ok after Friday.

holidays approaching

So Christmas is coming and I am just about done with Christmas shopping. Chris and I aren't really getting each other anything because we recently purchased a fantastic laptop that has saved me from the insane asylum. To put it lightly our other computer sucked. So because of the big purchase we aren't really getting each other anything. For my parents we decided to get them a Sirius Satellite radio and subscription. For my brother, we are getting a gift certificate at Hamshaw. That may sound lame but he is doing a lot of work on his house and he could use it. For Chris' parents we got alcohol and coffee. Also Chris made a beautiful jewelry box by hand. It is gorgeous. I will have to put a couple of pictures up.

woo hoo new blog

I have officially started a blog. A couple of friends are doing it so why shouldn't I. Here goes. I never thought of having a blog because I never thought I would have much to write about but oh well. Some of the ones that I have read aren't always interesting, no offense to anyone but I think the point is to get yourself out there in and among the world. Well, as you can see, I love my dog Rocky. He is a 3 year old English Bulldog. He is awesome. Most of the time he sleeps but amazingly enough he stayed awake long enough to have his picture taken with his santa hat. Speaking of santa hats, isn't it weird that just because it is Christmas time, people walk around town with their own on. Is that supposed to get me in a festive mood? I just don't get it. I am so not a holiday person. I don't really get that excited and where the color of the season. I am not sure why. My parent's weren't those type either. I find it hard even to get into the Christmas spirit. I just like spending time with my family. That is what Christmas means to me. Well, I must be off to do other things. Hope you enjoy my first post.
